I decided to develop this site after spending a frustrating day trying to find progressive blogs about politics, social justice, environmental issues, literature and culture. Sure, there are sites, like Lefty Blogs, which syndicate only the die-hard Democrats, but there is nothing out there for the rest of us on the left, syndicating local content from an less partisan and dogmatic sources. I don’t know if this will be useful, but here it is.
One thing I found in my search is that the more radical left has a horrible web presence. There are very few sites with RSS feeds. What is with that? We should be about getting the message out, so why are there sites like The Portland Alliance, which has wonderful articles, but no way of grabbing them with a feed reader? In my opinion, the left will make itself irrelevant if it doesn’t learn to use this technology.
Anyway, for what it’s worth, here is my collection of syndicated RSS feeds from Cascadia. Currently, most of the sources are in Portland, where we are. We hope that will change and you will suggest new feeds for us by bloggers and news sources in Oregon, Washington, and B.C.
